BERRY HANDMADE PIE
A pie is a baked dish which is usually made of a pastry dough casing that contains a filling of various sweet or savory ingredients. Sweet pies may be filled with fruit (as in an apple pie or Berries).

Prep time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 40 mins
Total Time: 55 mins
Ingredients
- 2 cups mixed berries
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 vanilla bean
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 roll puff pastry
Instructions
For Berry Compote:
- Add mixed berries to a pan on medium heat.
- Add sugar and caviar of 1 vanilla pod to the berries.
- Let it soften until it releases its juice.
- Once bubbling add the orange juice.
- Mix 1 tsp cornstarch in 2 tbsp cold water.
- Mix until it dissolves and add it to the pan.
- Let it simmer until it thickens and take it off the heat.
- Let it cool for at least an hour before making the pies
Pies:
- Preheat oven to 180° C or 350° F for 15 mins
- Make sure the pastry is cold so it can hold it's shape better.
- Cut the pastry in the desired shape (Christmas tree, star, gingerbread man)
- Fill 1 tsp berry compote and close the pastry. Seal the edges with a fork.
- Cut holes on the upper pie layer
- Brush the top layer with beaten egg or milk and bake for about 20 - 25 mins or until the pies are golden brown.
